About the Reading Technology and Education Foundation
The Reading Technology and Education Foundation was established in 2001 to bring much needed technology and equipment to Reading Public Schools. Our goal is to provide the financial resources that allow teachers to purchase technology items that would not be funded by the town's budget that enable them to be more creative and innovative in instructing their students. Our 21st century world demands that all students have familiarity with technology as part of their education. Whether it is to do research, prepare reports and presentations, or to use programs commonly found in the work environment to assemble financial reports and solve problems, technology helps our students reach basic educational goals in reading, writing, mathematics, science and other areas. With the generous fundraising support from the greater Reading community, The Reading Technology and Education Foundation has funded classroom sets of wireless laptop computers, electronic SmartBoards and document cameras for math classrooms, and PCs and projection systems that deliver instruction in art, science and business in new and stimulating ways. These tools help bring the wonders of the world to our children’s elementary, middle and high school classrooms and help our children become active and engaged learners, ready to take on the challenges and opportunities of a global society. We are also working with the district’s administration to provide needed opportunities for teachers to expand their horizons on the effective use of technology in their classrooms. And, we are looking ahead to put in place the necessary funding to maintain this new technology so it is fully functioning throughout its useful life. Grant application forms may be found on this website (Grants).
